MOUND MUSEUM QUARTERLY REPORT

THE O.H. HUTCHINGS STATION POWER PLANT — The Mound Science and Energy Museum (MSEM) is pleased to announce that Dayton Power & Light’s Mark S. Sizemore, and a former Mound Employee, will discuss the history and future of the O.H. Hutchings Station Power Plant, as part of MSEM’s continuing WEDNESDAY NIGHT PRESENTATIONS, on Sept. 24, 2014. The historic plant which is located just south of the Mound Business Park on the Great Miami River, was a coal-fired power station which has now been shut down and is being prepared for demolition. Mr. Sizemore was plant manager at this generating station after leaving the Mound.

Mark S. Sizemore is currently the Plant Manager for Dayton Power & Light’s fleet of peaking units in Indiana and Ohio, two solar facilities and a battery storage facility in Moraine. In 2013 Sizemore was the project construction manager overseeing the installation of the first battery storage facility in Ohio. He has also served as senior operations manager and maintenance manager for DP&L since joining the company in 2000. Before starting at DP&L, Sizemore was in managerial roles at Leland Aerospace Service Center in Vandalia, Hobart Brothers Co., in Troy and EG&G Mound Applied Technologies in Miamisburg. Sizemore has a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering from Ohio University.

This interesting and informative talk will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at 7:00 PM at the MOUND SCIENCE AND ENERGY MUSEUM, 1075 Mound Rd., Miamisburg, Ohio 45342. Reminder: THE MUSEUM OPEN HOUSE this year will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11 rather than the usual December date. The Museum will be open during our regular operating hours (9:00AM to noon), with the Open House to follow from Noon until 5:00 PM. Tours of T-Building will be available every half hour from Noon to 4:00 PM. There will be a $5.00 fee for the tour, and will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
