The History of Miamisburg Beer
In this presentation, Mr. Gaffney will discuss his research into brewing in Miamisburg including his latest discoveries, complete with names, maps, and drama from the 19th century Star City. One of these breweries—the “Kuehn’s Brewery” pictured on the 1886 lithograph of Miamisburg—was located at the foot of Mound hill.
Tim Gaffney
Tim is a Dayton native, and he’s lived in Miamisburg near the foot of Mound hill for more than 40 years. His wife Jean was the Miamisburg branch librarian for many years, and Tim is better known locally as Mrs. Gaffney’s husband. He retired from the Dayton Daily News at the end of 2006, and he retired again from the National Aviation Heritage Alliance in Dayton in 2019. He has had 16 books published nationally and internationally. His most recent book is “Dayton Beer: A History of Brewing in the Miami Valley”, about early brewers in the Dayton region.
