Perspectives on the Transition of Mound Laboratory

After a long hiatus, Mound Lecture Series is back in-person!

Recently retired Miamisburg Mayor, Richard Church, Jr. will present his personal views on activities and challenges that arose when the U.S. Department of Energy announced in 1991 to permanently close its nuclear research and production facility at Miamisburg’s renowned Mound Laboratory.

He will share the challenges and accomplishments of the conversation of Mound from a government facility to a commercial and community success.

Richard Church Jr.
Richard Church, Jr. was the lonest serving Mayor in Miamisburg history, having served for 28 years upon his retirement in 2019. Church is a Miamisburg native, life-long resident and community advocate.
