MOUND MUSEUM LECTURE SERIES SPOTLIGHTS

The presentation focuses on similarities and differences in Mound and Fernald during the production era, environmental cleanup performed by DOE Office of Environmental Management, and present-day long-term surveillance and maintenance (LTS&M) activities performed by DOE Office of Legacy Management.

Speaker’s Biography
Sue Smiley has been with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for 29 years, starting her career at Mound in 1990, as an environmental compliance specialist. Sue was Site Transition Manager at Mound, assisting DOE-EM colleagues with lease and eventual sale of properties to the Mound Development Corporation, and later the transfer of Mound LTS&M activities to DOE-LM. In 2016, she transferred from EM to LM and now serves as Site Manager of the Mound and Fernald sites in southwest Ohio. Sue holds a B.S. in Zoology and a Master of Environmental Science (M.En.) from Miami University.
