3D Printing & Casting Innovations

Event Details

MOUND MUSEUM LECTURE SERIES SPOTLIGHTS

Topic
Direct metal additive manufacturing (3D printing) has had limited adoption due to major issues with cost and qualification. Skuld uses 3D printing to solve the issue of tooling lead time and cost in lost foam investment casting resulting in the invention of additive manufacturing evaporative casting (AMEC). Skuld has also produced equipment designs including Lightning MetalTM, ThunderdeckTM, and SMITHboxTM that enable others to use the technology. This talk will cover the numerous ways 3D printing is used in the casting industry more broadly as well as specific manufacturing breakthroughs at Skuld that enable toolingless casting in just hours.

Speaker’s Biography
Sarah Jordan is the CEO and co-founder of Skuld, a company focused on advanced manufacturing and materials. She is the inventor of the new additive manufacturing evaporative casting (AMEC) process which merges 3D printing with lost foam investment casting.
