Challenges and Opportunities in Law Enforcement Today

Event Details

MOUND MUSEUM LECTURE SERIES SPOTLIGHTS

Law Enforcement continues to be faced with rapid societal changes, racial tensions, increased demands for police service, new technology, and difficulty recruiting new officers. Unlike national police systems in Great Britain and Europe, the United States has historically been decentralized at the State, County and City levels. For example, there are over 800 police agencies in Ohio; how does that affect effectiveness? Other hot-button topics include how mass shootings in public places have impacted our country and reignited issues surrounding firearms and the counter concern of personal protection.
