CSX Train Derailment In Miamisburg
MOUND MUSEUM LECTURE SERIES SPOTLIGHTS
CSX TRAIN DERAILMENT IN MIAMISBURG — On July 28, 1986, 15 cars of a forty-four-car CSX Train derailed in Miamisburg, Ohio. Some of the cars contained phosphorus forcing city officials to evacuate thousands of people from their homes, causing one of the largest evacuation to occur in Ohio’s history. On Wed. May 27th, the MOUND SCIENCE AND ENERGY MUSEUM is pleased to have Mr. Billy N. Ring, a Retired Miamisburg Fire Department Captain, as guest speaker at our next WEDNESDAY NIGHT PRESENTATION. He will take us step-by-step through the entire incident and show us actual video footage of the events that occurred.
Mr. Ring is a lifelong resident of Miamisburg, Ohio. He retired from the Miamisburg Fire Dept. after 27 years of service. He also retired from the Dayton Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team as a HAZMAT Coordinator, serving both Montgomery and Greene Counties. He has served on the Miamisburg High School Tech Prep Advisory Committee; Sinclair Community College on the Safety Risk Management Advisory Committee, just to name a few. He’s currently serving as an Instructor for U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA 10 & 30 Hour Course Training Certifications. Mr. Ring owns and operates his own business, the Administrative & Technical Services LLC, an Industrial Safety, Consulting and Training Service.
Mr. Ring’s presentation will take place at the MOUND SCIENCE & ENERGY MUSEUM, 1075 Mound Rd., Miamisburg, Ohio on May 27, 2015, at 7:00 PM.
