MOUND MUSEUM LECTURE SERIES SPOTLIGHTS

SECRET’S OF MIAMISBURG GREAT MOUND — A special presentation on the “Miamisburg Great Mound,” our State Monument, will take place at the MOUND SCIENCE & ENERGY MUSEUM, on Wed. Oct. 28, 2015, at 7:00 PM. The Museum is located at 1075 Mound Road, directly across the street from the “Great Mound,” in Miamisburg, Ohio.

Gary Petticrew, Curator at the MIAMISBURG HISTORICAL SOCIETY and Larry Suttman, former Curator, will give us welcome insight on a mound that is not only the oldest man-made edifice in the area, but one with a most strange and silent history. Never scientifically examined, it stands proudly high atop the bluff overlooking Miamisburg. Most know only that it’s big, it’s beautiful, and a wonderful place for family picnics. But there are many secrets here, wrapped in mystery. Rumors and wild stories have been around since Hole’s Station was first built. You will learn of the extraordinary race of men who for more than eighteen hundred years lived peacefully where we now live. There are so many unexplained rumors, tall tales and muddled reports, that it’s maddening. You’ll learn the answers to many of these mysteries. Why was it built? Is there treasure inside? Was it really built by giants? Was it actually covered with stone? Join us for what promises to be a fascinating and worthwhile evening, as we travel back in time, over two thousand years.

Presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, please call: (937) 353-4457. For directions to the MOUND SCIENCE AND ENERGY MUSEUM, please check our website at: http://www.moundmuseum.com
