Narrated by radio announcer Gary Calvert, this program opens with aerial views, then discusses Mound’s role in the nuclear weapons complex. This program includes an unusual twist – a “commercial” for an experimental design course. Computer aided design, robotic inspection and assembly of an explosives pellet, clean room assembly by robots, and the automated manufacturing cell are reviewed. Opens with historical footage of Henry Ford’s automobile manufacturing. Mound on the road to a paperless manufacturing system. Illustrated by automated manufacture of a timer component. Mound people appear throughout the program.

A history of the radioisotopic thermoelectric generator and it’s applications. Mostly graphics, animation, and launch footage, with a few Mound Building 50 scenes.

A comprehensive look at manufacture, quality assurance, and testing of an explosives component. An excellent example of what goes into a Mound component product. Mound people appear occasionally throughout the program.
DVD 3, Cut 9; 10:00; 3/87 W88 at Mound (Ray Finney)
Big intro with submarine footage. A review of Albuquerque Operations Office responsibilities, the plants it oversees, and Mound’s role in the production of the W88 warhead. Lots of animation, including the launch, flight, and detonation phases with Mound products described at each point in the sequence where they are used. An excellent portrayal of how Mound fits and functions in the Weapons Complex.
DVD 4, Cut 5; 9:00; 6/87 Mound ’87
Another in the site overview series. This program met Dick Vallee’s request to list all of Mound’s capabilities, not just a selected few. So all ‘fly’, and the ones selected for in-depth coverage are pulled out. These include ceramics, flexible circuits, and tritium technology, with others covered to a lesser extent. Mound people occasionally appear throughout the program.
DVD 5, Cut 1; 13:30 Mound ’88
Another in the site overview series. As with Mound ’87, this one “flys” all the capabilities, pulling out selected ones for in-depth review. These include: ceramics, laser ignition, flexible circuits, thermites, flexible machining, tritium technology & calorimetry. Mound people appear throughout the program. Recommended

A brief history of radioisotope thermoelectric generators leading up to the Galileo and Solar Polar missions, with graphics and animation. Nielsen, OSU, who did the initial concept work, Mound’s Wayne Kessling discussing construction and output, and Dr. Layton Wittenberg, Mound’s project director
